Michelle Landry (Martin)

Michelle Leanne Landry (née Martin) is an Australian politician who has been a member of the House of Representatives since the 2013 federal election, representing the Division of Capricornia.

In February 2018, Michelle became the National Party’s Chief Whip in the House of Representatives. She served as the Assistant Minister for Children and Families (2018–2022), as the Assistant Minister for Northern Australia (2020–2022) and as the Assistant Minister for Regional Tourism (2021-2022) for the Liberal National Party of Queensland.

Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Michelle was educated at Hall State School and Rockhampton Girls Grammar School. Her parents, Bill and Gloria Martin, ran the Lucky Daniel’s Casket Agency in William Street, Rockhampton for over two decades. Growing up, Michelle had the values of hard work instilled in her as she helped sell casket tickets to local customers.

She was an officer with the National Australia Bank for 22 years before establishing her own bookkeeping business in Central Queensland.  Previously she worked as a pathology and medical biochemistry lab assistant. Michelle is well known for a strong work ethic and has fought hard for the entire region, championing many key issues and delivering on vital infrastructure projects.
